THE SAINT ARCHIVES
Decrypted dispatches from the year 2050
The year is 2050…and the world is a silent, bleak landscape of oxidized pennies and nebulous ghosts. Amidst the scorched architecture of NW Arkansas, The Archivist discovers the small, tiled sanctuary once known as the "Bathroom Booth of Truth." He recovered the files, recorded 2024- 2026, by a singular Mark Saint; the final testimonies of a man who viewed the crumbling suburban sprawl with a mixture of righteous fury and anthropological bewilderment.
This archive is not merely a record; it is a tactical manual for the sovereign spirit. While the "Chubalubs" of the early 21st century were busy staring at their phones until their spines bent into permanent C-shapes, Saint was busy planning his escape into the hinterlands of Mexico and beyond. We have reconstructed these fractured frequencies so that even the most fearful among you will stop asking for permission and start receiving the transmission…
DISCOVERY OF THE SAINT ARCHIVES
We didn’t expect to find anything in the Ozark territories. The ash had claimed most of the legacy institutions long ago, leaving behind a landscape of scorched concrete and silicon ghosts. But buried beneath a pile of corporate rubble was the Bathroom Booth of Truth…
THE soy-t IT PROTOCOL
The Archivist, selfless, mission-driven, and celibate by choice, waded through the wreckage that had once been a hip-looking apartment complex on a ridge in Northwest Arkansas. He was getting close; he could smell the truth. The messiah, Mark Saint, had once been here…
THE LEGEND CONTINUES
The signal didn’t start with the Highlands. We found a deeper layer of the drive—data packets dating back to the early 2020s. Mark Saint, the man we now call the Oracle, had tried to warn humanity twice before. No one listened. If they had, humankind wouldn’t be on the brink of extinction as we find ourselves in the wasteland of 2050. We are reconstructing these early dispatches not just as history, but as a forensic study of how the end began.
The first found files, Raise Your Own Kids, was Saint’s sobering critique on modern America and how society treated both children and the family unit as a whole; where everything of vital importance was outsourced to institutions. The second files, The Hypotenuse, were buried deeper down in the rubble, and are incendiary blueprints for how humanity is forever managed in a problem-reaction-solution rubicon. These dispatches were written with revolution in mind.
WELCOME TO THE RYOK UNIVERSE!
I want you to picture the following scene: Hector Alonzo is escorted onto a bus, utilitarian and drab. He shuffles down the aisle, past anxious faces straining to remain stoic. They’re all headed to the same place; a place they’ve only seen in fictionalized accounts on TV and movies…
THE REAL PURPOSE OF SCHOOLING
When I woke up the morning after my first post went out, I received a wonderfully reassuring email from a dear, old friend of mine, of nearly 40 years, whom we’ll call “Jenny” because that’s her name. In part, it read: “You literally make me want to pull my kids out of school TOMORROW!
WELCOME TO THE hypotenuse
I’d like to start in February of 2021, about a day after arriving at our friend Joni’s place an hour south of Austin, TX, in a little lake-side community of mostly law abiding citizens. I say mostly, because her live-in boyfriend Ricky, a fully tattooed and perpetually-high former gang member from south central Los Angeles…
THE hegelian
dialectic
As an important caveat, I am a recovering Leftist, with impeccable credentials. In 2012, after visiting another liberal utopia, Copenhagen, my wife and I decided to move to Portland, OR with our 3 year old son in tow. We wanted to cash in on the American, quasi-equivalent of these venerated Danish socialist ideals…
